York Designer Outlet
York Designer Outlet, a bargain retailer focusing in high-end names, lives up to its name. Although it is actually located on the outskirts of York, the rest of the name is correct. The 350,000 square foot shopping mall houses over 120 major UK and foreign high street brands, with regular discounts of up to 60%.
The mall, which is still known as McArthur Glen York, has a small children’s playground, occasional special events, and a variety of restaurant options.
Stonegate
Stonegate is a short, historic street that runs from the well-known Betty’s Tea Rooms to the foot of York Minster. During the day, it is only open to pedestrians and is filled with unique and interesting stores and eateries.
This street is always packed with tourists. York’s top attractions include the York Armoury, Abraham Moon, Stonegate Teddy Bears, Käthe Wohlfahrt, and the Ye Olde Starr Inne, Betty’s Tea Rooms’ second location. Low Petergate and Little Stonegate aren’t the only streets and lanes worth exploring for unique local shops in the region.
Monks Cross Shopping Park
Monks Cross Retail Park, located on the city’s northern-eastern outskirts, is home to a number of significant retailers. Parking is plentiful in the park’s central area, and buses run directly to the park’s entrance from the city center, making it a perfect site for window shopping at high street merchants.
Debenhams, New Look, H&M, and TK Maxx are among the most popular stores in the region surrounding Monks Cross Shopping Park, but they are far from the only options. There are also cafés and shops selling everything from cosmetics to model trains. Just down the road is the Vangarde Shopping Park, where you’re sure to find everything you’re looking for.

Vangarde Shopping Park
A variety of department stores serve as the anchors of Vangarde Shopping Park, which is outside York in the north. The largest is John Lewis & Partners, while Next and Marks & Spencer are also extremely large possibilities. Some well-known restaurant chains are listed as well.
