Public Transportation in Liverpool Buses, Taxis, Rail system and more 2023

Throughout the day, Merseyrail trains travel regularly between 68 stations in and near Liverpool.

You can easily navigate the city thanks to the four underground stations in the city centre: Lime Street lower level, Liverpool Central, Moorfields, and James Street. This gives you more time to explore all that Liverpool has to offer.

Additionally, tickets are straightforward, with Day Savers for lone day trips and the Merseyrail Family Ticket for group trips.

An All Zone Adult and 18 and Under Day Saver is now available for purchase online. You will receive your ticket(s) by email, so you won’t need to worry about them when you go to the station. Just board the train and have fun travelling! Purchase a ticket here.

Liverpool can serve as the starting point for your vacation because Merseyrail has two lines, the Wirral Line and the Northern Line, that travel as far as Chester on the Wirral Line or Southport on the Northern Line.

You can visit the official website of Merseytravel to plan your journey or to find out more about:

Accessibility on rail system in Liverpool

There is plenty of information accessible to assist you in planning your trip, new stations have been built with easy access in mind, and rain carriages have been renovated.

However, many of the network’s oldest stations are more than a century old, and updating them to meet contemporary standards is expensive.

Merseytravel is dedicated to enhancing accessibility, but there is lots of assistance available if you have mobility issues or any other type of disability.

Wide doors, disability spaces, and audible announcements are all features of trains on the Wirral and Northern Line. In 2020, we will also roll out new trains with step-free access.

On the City Line, new trains are being introduced, but some older trains are still in use, and room is still limited, particularly for wheelchairs and buggies.

With steps, ramps, and kerbs, certain stations may be difficult to enter. Additionally, there may be a significant rise up from the platform to the train.
